Dr. Albert Yeung, Chairman of Emperor Group, was born in Hong Kong and traces his roots back to Chiu Chow, Guangdong.
Mr. Yeung Shing, the father of Dr. Albert Yeung, established Shing On Kee Watch Shop in 1942. Dr. Yeung opened his own store on Nathan Road, Kowloon, in 1964 and expanded into the jewellery business a few years later. In the years that followed, the business of Emperor Group grew from watch and jewellery to encompass many other sectors.
After over half a century of hard work, Dr. Yeung has succeeded in establishing a large conglomerate that not only serves the Asian market, but also enjoys an ever-increasing international presence. As Chairman of the Group, he makes full use of his cohesiveness to develop a sense of belonging among the staff. When it comes to business expansion, he believes in the importance of seizing every opportunity available as well as building on synergies between new business endeavours and existing operations.
Dr. Yeung is an active participant in community services. He was the Charter President of the Lions Clubs of South Kowloon from as early as 1976. Thereafter, he set up Emperor Foundation and Albert Yeung Sau Shing Charity Foundation. He also took up the positions of Standing Director of China Charity Federation and Life Honorary President of Social Workers Across Borders, etc. to further carry out his philanthropic missions.
Dr. Yeung's efforts have won him many awards and recognition, one of the most important one is the "China Charity Award – The Most Caring Individual Donor Award", the most authentic charity award presented by the Chinese Government, which he has been bestowed upon repeatedly since 2005. Dr. Yeung has also been honoured with "Top Ten Philanthropists" award at China’s Charity Chart organized by China Philanthropy Timesas in successive years. In 2017, Dr. Yeung was granted “Lifetime Achievement Award” which took him to next level of accomplishment. More than that, he has also received “Outstanding Philanthropic Leader of the Year”, “Most Influential Leading Philanthropist” and “Philanthropist of the Year”. In 2022, Dr. Yeung and Mr. Alex Yeung, Vice Chairman of Emperor Group, were awarded "Philanthropic Inheritance Excellence Awards" in China’s Charity Chart in the form of father-and son for the first time, showing that the spirit of philanthropy has been constantly carried forward. In 2023, Dr. Yeung was awarded the highest honor on China Philanthropy List, “Charity 20th in China‧Philanthropic Leader”, proving once again how Dr. Yeung made the continuous effort and contributions to society. Mr. Alex Yeung was awarded "Young Philanthropist of the Year".
Dr. Yeung's social recognition is not limited to charity. In 1994, Dr. Yeung was appointed an Honorary Professor of Law by the China University of Political Science and Law, and Honorary Consultant of All China Lawyers Association by the All China Lawyers Association. In 1998, he was named Honorary Trustee by Peking University. He was further appointed Honorary Professor as well as Director and Honorary President of The Emperor School of Performing Arts respectively by Guangdong University of Finance and Shanghai Institute of Visual Art, Fudan University in 2008. With his dedication over the years, Dr. Yeung's achievements have also been recognized on an international level. In 2007, Dr. Yeung won the “World Outstanding Chinese Award” from the United World Chinese Association and became the Honorary Life President of the Association. These awards not only reflect the widespread recognition of his achievements, but also encourage and strengthen his belief in serving the community.
