Emperor Entertainment Group Launched New Business “Emperor eSports Stars”

The Emperor eSports Stars inauguration press conference was held at the apm shopping mall, Kwun Tong on September 16 (Saturday). During the press conference, Emperor Entertainment Group formally announced the establishment of its new business “Emperor eSports Stars” (EES). The Group also welcomed the joining of two professional eSports teams, namely the men’s team G-Rex and women’s team Stinga. The event was officiated by Dr. Bernard Chan, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Dr. Albert Yeung, Chairman of Emperor Group, Mr. Alex Yeung, Corporate Executive of Emperor Group, Mr. Ryan Chow, Chairman of E-Sports Association Hong Kong, and Mr. Eric Yeung, Vice-chairman of E-Sports Association Hong Kong.

 

At the press conference, Ms. Shirley Hughes, Chief Executive Officer of the Group, explained the concept of setting up Emperor eSports Stars. “Emperor Entertainment Group has always been keeping up with the latest trends and never hesitates to explore new business models. Seeing that cross-media business development has become a market norm as well as the massive potential gains of the eSports industry, the Group established Emperor eSports Stars to provide opportunities for talented young people and to promote the healthy development of the industry in the territory.”

 

Mr. Clearence Cheung, Head of Business of EES, also shared the company’s development plan in the coming two years, “There are three main directions for Emperor eSports Stars’ future development, namely regular eSports competitions, eSports team management and a professional eSports academy.” EES’s first eSports competition will be named as “Emperor Cup 2017: Road to Pro” and the registration starts from September 22. The preliminary rounds and finals will be held between October and December. The grand finals will eventually be held in mid-December. The champion will be awarded a cash prize of HK$250,000, and the contestants will have the chance to win a professional contract. 

 

Two professional eSports teams  join EES, which are the men’s team G-Rex and women’s team Stinga. As G-Rex’s business partner, Mr. Eric Hung, artist of the Group, said that G-Rex had won five consecutive championships at League of Legends Nova League, and it only took G-Rex one year to go from ECS to LMS. He had high expectations for them on the way to world championship. 

 

At the end of the press conference, with Dr. Bernard Chan, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, as witness, EES together with Mr. Ryan Chow, Chairman of E-Sports Association Hong Kong, and Mr. Eric Yeung, Vice-chairman of E-Sports Association Hong Kong, signed the cooperation agreement, with an aim to promote the development of Hong Kong's gaming industry through mutual cooperation and encourage young people to achieve their ideals.
