"The Volunteers: To The War", Honorary Distributed by Emperor Motion Pictures, Announced its Simultaneous Released in Mainland and Hong Kong

Co-produced by Emperor Motion Pictures (Beijing) Ltd., Emperor Motion Pictures proudly presents "The Volunteers: To The War" as the sole distributor in Hong Kong and Macau. Directed by Chen Kaige, the film features a stellar cast including Xin Baiqing, Zhang Songwen, Huang Xiaoming, Zhang Ziyi, Zhu Yawen, Zhang Zifeng, Yin Fang, and Wang Chuanjun. As the first installment of "The Volunteers" trilogy, "The Volunteers: To The War" depicts the story of Chinese People's Voluntary Army during the first and second battles of the Korean War. The film premiered tonight (27th of September) at 13/F Emperor Cinemas Times Square in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. The event was attended by Dr. Albert Yeung, Chairman of Emperor Group and Mr. Alex Yeung, Vice Chairman of Emperor Group, along with esteemed guests including Mr. Eric Chan Kwok-ki, Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR, Mr. Warner Cheuk Wing-hing, Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR, Mr. Wen Hongwu, General Manager of Bauhinia Culture, Mr. Li Dahong, Chairman of Hong Kong Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group, Mr. Kevin Yeung Yun-hung, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism , Mr. Tang Ping-keung, Secretary for Security, and other government officials, Mr Zhang Zhihua, Director General of the Youth Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, Mr Zhang Guoyi, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Publicity Cultural and Sports Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, Mr. Wong Kwok-hing, Comr of Correctional Services, Mr. Michael Yung Kam-hung, Deputy Chief Fire Officer of Fire Services Department, Mr Lo Yan-lai, Commissioner of Civil Aid Service, etc. The premiere celebrated the remarkable release of "The Volunteers: To The War".

 

During his speech at the premiere, Mr. Eric Chan Kwok-ki, Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR mentioned that the memories about Korean War deeply engraved on every Chinese people’s heart. He emphasized the significance of the film in portraying the historical decision made by the nation in 1950 to send the Chinese People's Volunteer Army to fight in the Korean War and as a salutation to ancient national heroes. He further pointed out that the government of HKSAR places great importance on national affairs and national education. They have consistently worked together with various sectors of society to enhance the national consciousness and patriotism of the wider population through diverse means. Films, among other mediums, play a crucial role in bringing historical events to life, evoking deep emotions and leaving a profound impact and vividly conveying the spirit of patriotism. He firmly believes that the series of films will undoubtedly inspire citizens, strengthening their sense of national identity and fostering a deep love for the country.

 

Mr. Alex Yeung, Vice Chairman of Emperor Group, expressed his honor to be part of the production on behalf of Emperor Motion Pictures and exclusively distribute the film in Hong Kong and Macau region which simultaneously released in both regions for the first time ever. Being the executive producer of the film also broaden his sight for the large production scale. He highlighted the meticulous attention to detail in the film's production, including the use of 1:1 scale props such as tanks and fighter aircrafts, the scene of Dandong Yalu River Bridge. The entire production crew consisted of a staggering 2,500 individuals, with over a hundred of cast involved. With this unprecedented scale, it is believed that audiences will be deeply moved by the film's exceptional level of authenticity and realism. Mr. Yeung believed that the film market is leaning towards rejuvenation with higher expectations from audiences, and that patriotic films play a crucial role in strengthening and promoting patriotism, and positive thinking.

 

Mr. Alex Yeung, who also holds various public positions related to youth affairs, expressed his hope that the younger generation would be moved and inspired by the film, to understand its historical significance, to learn from the patriotic spirit of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army, to cherish the hard-won peace, and to contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
