Dr. Albert Yeung, Group Chairman, and Mr. Alex Yeung, Vice Chairman, were honored with the titles of "Philanthropy Pioneer" and "Philanthropy Exemplar" respectively in China’s Charity Ranking

Dr. Albert Yeung, Chairman of Emperor Group, and Mr. Alex Yeung, Vice Chairman of Emperor Group, were respectively awarded the titles of "Philanthropy Pioneer" and "Philanthropy Exemplar" at the China Charity Ranking award ceremony held in Beijing on 24 June 2026. This marks the 19th consecutive year that Dr. Yeung has received such recognition. Also honoured at the event was Emperor Entertainment artiste Ms. Kara Wai, who received the "Star Power of Philanthropy." award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to both the performing arts and charitable causes. The China Charity Ranking is organised by “China Philanthropy Times”, a publication supervised by the Ministry of Civil Affairs and hosted by the China Federation of Social Work.

 

With over half a century of unwavering commitment to charitable causes, Dr. Yeung has addressed the needs of all strata of society, funding the construction of more than ten elderly care centres and child care centres across Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong, providing over 3,000 beds. As early as the 1970s, he was the founding president of Lions Club Of South Kowloon. He later established the Emperor Foundation and the Albert Yeung Sau Shing Charity Foundation, focusing on elderly hospice care and youth education. Following the Tai Po Fire in late 2025, Dr. Yeung, through his foundation and together with Mr. Alex Yeung and Emperor Entertainment artistes, donated over HK$30 million. Speaking at the awards ceremony, Dr. Yeung remarked: "I will carry this trust and honour forward, leading Emperor Group to contribute to the development of charity in China, so that the power of giving endures and the spirit of benevolence is passed down through generations."

 

As a "Philanthropy Exemplar", Mr. Alex Yeung has long been a voice for grassroots communities, with a particular focus on youth. He holds multiple public positions, including member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), member of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the CPPCC, member of the Standing Committee of the All-China Youth Federation, and vice chairman of Beijing Youth Federation, building bridges for communication between young people in Hong Kong, Macao and the Mainland. He has participated in the National Education Seminars and led Hong Kong and Macao youth on retracing the Long March, helping to strengthen their sense of national belonging. The Group has participated in the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau's internship programme for two consecutive terms, providing quality internship opportunities. "Young people are the future of our country," said Mr. Alex Yeung,"I hope to help young people move upward in society while guiding them to give back through acts of kindness, so that more and more young people become the backbone of China's philanthropic endeavours."

 

Ms. Kara Wai was awarded the "Star Power of Philanthropy" With nearly five decades in the entertainment industry, she was the first Hong Kong actress to win the Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Actress and the first Hong Kong actress to receive the Huabiao Film Award for Outstanding Actress. In recent years, she has served as a mentor at youth film festivals to nurture emerging talent. Her philanthropic work centres on supporting people living with cognitive impairments, as well as long-term child sponsorship. She has donated to disaster relief efforts for events including the Henan floods, the Tibet earthquake and the Tai Po Fire in 2025, and makes regular visits to elderly homes and schools. Speaking at the event, Kara Wai shared: “Charity has never felt like a job to me, it’s just instinct. I’ve bravely taken on every challenge life has brought my way, and I’m grateful for all of it. As public figures, I hope we can all face hardship without fear, without backing down, and keep going with strength and resilience. I’ll always hold true to this heartfelt purpose, and keep walking this path of charity for as long as I can.”
