Emperor Foundation's Hospice Service in Hubei Nominated for Award
2008 / 04 / 01

Charity Foundation

The hospice service that Emperor Foundation, Charity Federation of Hubei Province and Social Workers Across Borders brought to Hubei in 2007 was nominated for "The Most Influential Charity Project Award" presented by the PRC's Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Emperor Foundation realized the scarcity of hospice service in China as a result that death is a strict taboo in traditional Chinese culture. We joint force with Charity Federation of Hubei Province in 2006 and funded the construction of Hubei Province Hong Kong Emperor Elderly Care Centre, an elderly care centre as a new wing of Hubei Provnice Wuhan City Rongjun Hosipital exclusively for terminally ill senior patients. The centre offers specialized palliative care, later complemented with hospice counseling services, when Social Workers Across Borders joined the programme in 2007. Emperor Foundation has donated up to RMB 10 million and will continue to subsidize the operation expenses of the centre on a yearly basis.
