(Hong Kong, April 18, 2018) Emperor eSports Stars (EES) announced the addition of four new players to its professional eSports team G-Rex on a press conference held in Versus Stadium at D2 Place in Lai Chi Kok today. The new G-Rex team members, including captain Blackwai, SiuFat, Alex and Neo, will be playing the recent hottest shooting video game “PlayersUnknown’s Battlegrounds” (PUBG). Ms. Shirley Hughes, Chief Executive Officer of Emperor Entertainment Group, Mr. Clearence Cheung, Head of Business of EES, and EEG artiste Michelle Wai were at the event to welcome the new players on board.
“Emperor Esports Stars has been keeping abreast of every trend and change in the eSports industry.” When speaking about the reason for forming the new team to specialize in the game PUBG, Mr. Clearence Cheung, Head of Business of EES said, “PUBG is one of the fastest rising games in the market -- it has attracted more than 30 million gamers around the world and the accumulated watch time online has exceeded 43 million hours since its launch.” Mr. Cheung also announced that G-Rex PUBG team has been invited to take part in the upcoming “MetalHogs PUBG League” jointly hosted by the game’s official developer PUGB Corporation and 4Gamers, a leading Taiwanese eSports company. The league will see top eSports teams coming from Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau regions compete for the champion title and a total of NT$ 1.5 million of prize money.
Captain Blackwai said, “I was thrilled to join EES and I am confident that we will receive the best training and opportunities with the sound team management here. At the same time, I hope to show to the public our professionalism as an eSports player.” His teammate SiuFat also said, “Transiting from an amateur basketball player to a full time professional eSports player is not an easy journey for me. I am blessed to be able to pursue what I am passionate about, and most importantly, with my family support. It is my goal to represent Hong Kong to take part in international competitions in the future.”
EEG artiste Michelle Wei was also present at the event as a special guest to show her support to the team. She shared her experience to the members and wished them success in the upcoming “Metalhogs PUBG League” by bringing them a “Winner Winner Chicken Dinner”
